Two Books. Two Genres. One Obsession
LOVE, PURPOSE, HOPE.
Genres May Change. The Heart Remains
Stories of courage, connection, and hope
even in the darkest places.
Here’s a taste of what lies ahead: danger, heart, and the promise of something worth saving. The first chapter is yours—no cost, just the choice to remain open to the journey.
Neal Richardson has been writing since he was 12 years old. He started by inserting himself into stories he liked. Some of these were written down. Most were not.
He is improving with age and experience.Neal was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States where he still makes his home. It’s taken him a long time to find his writer’s voice and thankfully his family never told him to stop. His obsession with heroic tales across all genres came from this.
This is his chance to give some of the experience back
and it is greatly appreciated.
From the desk of Neal Richardson:
I launched with two books in two different genres that, historically, aren’t respected as much as they used to be. Pray for You is a teen horror drama. Knight Errant is a Western. While I can easily say that the Western is aimed at boys and the Horror story is aimed at girls, I think all genders can get something out of both books. There’s a very simple reason for this. At their heart, these are romances.
And everyone likes a good love story.
I dabble in other genre tropes but, because of the characters, my stories are romances. Despite the different genres you’ll be able to tell it’s the same writer because I wrestle with the same themes within both stories–the problem of Evil.
This is Evil on a scale from the very human–greed–to the elemental Evil, a supernatural force. Despite these potentially heav themes, I am not a pessimistic writer. I deal in hope. This is what I want to leave my readers with at the end of every tale. I will hopefully scare and thrill you along the way but you will feel hope at the end of the story.
To that end I should discuss what I can’t write. Explicitly violent or sexual scenes are beyond my skill-set. To use the motion picture rating system we are all familiar with: PG-13 or less. There should be no upper limit on the age bracket for enjoyment. If you read this to a group the potential for embarrassment is not there.
There’s one underserved market I wish to reach. I want to reach boys and men with these stories in particular. And I think I can because, at their heart, these stories are about someone to protect or save and this speaks to those men and boys who, maybe, are looking for a purpose. And I aim to celebrate that kind of purpose with these stories.
So, thank you for exploring a little with me. I hope you find enjoyment with what I create. There’s more to come.
